Multimodal AI for Biological and Etiological Assessment of Dementias

Date: Wednesday, August 12, 2026
Time: 2:00–3:00 pm ET | 11:00 a.m.–12:00 pm PT

About this Webinar: During this webinar, Vijaya B. Kolachalama, PhD, will present a body of work focused on multimodal AI models that support differential diagnosis across dementia etiologies, estimate amyloid and tau status without a PET scan, and interpret multi-sequence brain MRI through a vision-language system.

The presentation will emphasize the importance of interpretability, calibrated uncertainty, and validation against biomarker and neuropathological evidence when developing trustworthy AI tools for research and care in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Describe how multimodal AI models integrate routinely collected clinical data to assess the biological and etiological drivers of dementia, including mixed pathologies.

  • Explain the role of interpretability, calibrated uncertainty, and validation against biomarker and post-mortem evidence.

  • Evaluate how AI-based pre-screening may broaden access to biomarker testing and disease-modifying therapies while improving clinical trial recruitment.
